Day three - Burleigh Heads to Kilkivan

Yahoo, the rain has finally stopped. We had a funny start to the day after being woken at 4:00am by 4 wild roosters who are nesting in the tree on Finn's front lawn. Finn's neighbours are all up in arms about the roosters, Finn pretends to be annoyed as well, however he secretly feeds them when no one is looking, so I except they won't be leaving anytime soon with a steady food supply.

Our first stop was the Trading Post Cafe at Canundra for breakfast and then we made our way towards Buderim to meet up with Arthur and Janet. We were running late so had to cut through Brisbane, what a mistake that was. I think Brisbane traffic may be worse than Sydney traffic.

Finn and I test rode the latest in geriatric wheels before riding further north with Arthur.

We found some great twisty roads out through the back of Eumundi and Kentworth and north of Gympie.

Tonight we are staying in the pub in Kilkivan. The town is famous for the Great Horse Ride which is held around Easter time each year. It attracts more than 1,000 riders and an assortment of horse drawn carriages. The pub is currently staffed by Norwegian and German backpackers. Some of the residents in the town don't have any power and come to the pub to shower for the princely sum of $2.00

They boys are going to ride with me until lunchtime tomorrow, then they'll head back home. I have one more stop to visit friends in Mackay and then I'm on my own and camping the rest of the way.

  1. Hi Karen. Thanks for a great ride with you Friday & Saturday. Just checked your progress on the spotter... you're doing well, should make Mackay this arvo. Don't forget the GP tonight. Stoner has pole with a new track lap record in case you didn't see it last night. My adopted roosters let me sleep in this morning, crowed at 04:40am lol. Gave them a clandestine feed this morning, didn't realize Jodie was taping me doing it talking rooster to them. The pic's of us on the scoot's look great. I think Arthur should use them as a promo for all the geriatric bikies out there that still want to pull a helmet & leathers on. Hope the road footage worked out & you're able to up load it, looking forward to seeing it.Stay safe, Finn x
