What a great day. We left Kilkivan at 7:30 planning to have breakfast at Ban Ban Springs, sounds exotic doesn’t it. Ban Ban was recommended to us by one of the locals, he said don’t go to Tansey, go to Ban Ban it’s really nice. Well err, it is definitely not exotic, I was imagining resort spa, etc. It’s a very run down roadhouse at an intersection. Arthur went to order breakfast whilst Finn and I checked in with the family, once inside, he decided it would just have to be coffee and we would push on and breakfast later.
Arthur and I drank our coffee whilst Finn polished his bike, lubed his chain, stroked it and petted it (this happens every day). I think we’ll have to name his bike the princess.
We had breakfast at Gayndah. at the Big Orange. Yes, there is a Big Orange, owned by Eric (the rocket rider) and his mum who is 80. Mum was working on the grading machine which sorts and grades the oranges according to size.
I said goodbye to Finn and Arthur. It was great to have them both along for some of the ride.
Heading north just outside of Eidsvold I met this gorgeous old lady. I have no idea how old she is, somewhere between 70 – 80. She used to be a motorcyclist, got her L’s at 50 and stayed on them for 6 years! Finally she got her licence. Then when she couldn’t ride anymore she got her car licence. She and her dog have been on the road for 12.5 years living out of her falcon and the tiniest caravan I have ever seen .

The road between Eidsvold and Monto is really weird, beautiful plains surrounded by mountains, however the road has these undulations which are hard to describe, its almost like gently jumping on a trampoline.
I refuelled at Monto and a couple told me that I should camp at Dululu as there are lots of people that pull over there and its safe. I just love the name, so of course have to camp there. I got in just before dark, put my tent up and lit my fire. There are 4 Winnebagos here so I feel quite safe.
Off to Mackay tomorrow to see Leanne and Scott.
